Skills Group using DBT Techniques

Definition of DBT: Dialectical Behavior Therapy is the application of a broad array of cognitive and behaviour therapy strategies targeting serious problem behaviors that inhibit people from managing their emotions and coping with life.

DBT skills training offers practical, familiar tools for individuals to learn and practice. The desired recovery- focused outcomes are improved quality of life and a sense of mastery over emtional distress.

You will learn;

  • How to control your mind…instead of your mind controlling you.
  • How to keep relationships, get what you want and maintain your self-respect.
  • How to deal with painful emotion in non-destructive ways.
  • How to tolerate, accept distress and manage emotional distress safely.

Who is Eligible?
All individuals who have, and are regularly seen by, a support worker ( i.e., community support coordinator, therapist, counsellor)
